However, BIOS can do much more than you put here, such as tuning your CPU to make it run faster (oscilation rate).

Dear 159:(sounds like talking to an inmate...)
The major purposes for updating your OS are:
1. path up the hole or holes to secure your computer from being hacked or attacked by the malicious codes.
2. enhance the compatibility of your OS with the newly marketed hardware or software.
3. make sure the Microsoft company can monitor your behaviors on the internet and "help" you when you're in technical trouble.
